What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive component in the cannabis plant, it is one of the two most important cannabinoids and its proportion is variable.

It was discovered in 1940 and is one of the 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis plants, the most abundant after tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), accounting for up to 40-45% of the plant extract (but as mentioned above this can vary). depending on genetics and type of crop). This substance does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. It is present in higher concentration in the bud.

What are its main uses and benefits?

Its use stands out mainly in the medicinal field thanks to its properties and the diversity of its implementation. Among the main benefits that CBD provides, we can mention the following: antiepileptic action, muscle relaxant, antioxidant action, analgesic effect, neuroprotective action, reduction of anxiety and depression.

Most studies investigating the effects of CBD in treating pain recommend taking high doses, typically 1-1.5mg/kg of body weight. For a 150 pound (68 kg) person this is between 60 and 100 mg of CBD per dose.

Unlike THC, CBD simply creates therapeutic effects like relaxation or pain relief, rather than any mind-altering psychoactive effects. Although clinical trials are still underway, CBD has been found to be a great option for people with anxiety.

CBD has also been shown to reduce lipid production in skin cells, thereby decreasing oil production. So it could be a way to control skin conditions like acne. At the same time, this substance increases the production of sebum, preventing the skin from drying out.

Where can we find CBD?

In foods such as cocoa, black pepper, echinacea, rosemary, maca, black truffle or flax seeds. Without forgetting, of course, hemp seeds and products derived from them, such as hemp protein or oil.

And how is CBD consumed?

It can be smoked like a classic joint, but there are many more ways to consume it. Within which we could mention the most common: vaporize, infuse, cook, drink or take sublingually, in addition to the one mentioned above.

Those who take Cannabidiol (CBD), in oil, capsules or gummies, say that it works as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory, calms anxiety and helps fight insomnia. It is an abundant component in cannabis that, however, does not "get high" because it lacks psychotropic effects.

How long does its effect last in the body?

Its effects take around 15 minutes to appear and its duration is between 1 and 10 hours if the dose is between 5 and 20 mg.

Recommendations for your first time:

If this is your first time taking CBD, it's a good idea to split your daily dose. For example, if you consume CBD to balance your general well-being, divide the daily dose into three parts (morning, afternoon and night) thus providing you with daily consistency with CBD.

What are the side effects of CBD?

Although CBD produces a positive effect in most users, some people experience side effects. The most common are: dry mouth, mild dizziness and headaches. But you can also experience diarrhea and a drop in blood pressure.
